Managing Editor
January 2014 – Present

–Managed editorial content and direction for Planetizen. Site users have increased 23 percent over the past three months (May-July 2018) compared to the previous year.

–Editorial duties include curating, assigning, writing, and editing a content feed with a volume requirement of 60 posts per week. The Planetizen content feed includes aggregated news, feature articles, and blog posts.

–Managed social media marketing campaigns for content and products.

–Managed a site redesign project, from concept to wire frames and final designs, completed in April 2016.

–Completed the 4th and 5th editions of the Planetizen Guide to Graduate Urban Planning Programs as managing editor.

–Produced all marketing and media-relations materials for Planetizen Courses. Subscribers have more than quadrupled during my tenure.

–Completed long-form reports on the subjects of design and development, specializing in clarifying esoteric subject matter and communicating significance.

–Researched, wrote, and edited more than 15 reports for ULI Technical Assistance Panels.

–Researched and wrote the initial draft of the “LA2050: Who We Are, How We Live, Where We Are Going” report while under contract for Estolano LeSar Perez Advisors, LLC. The report sets the agenda and vision for the LA2050 initiative, funded by the Goldhirsh Foundation.

–Researched, wrote, and edited the “Regional Landscape Review of Climate Programs and Policies” report while under contract for Adi Liberman and Associates, funded by a grant from the Los Angeles Regional Collaborative for Climate Action and Sustainability.

Outreach and Data Coordinator
The College of Environmental Design at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona
September 2011 – December 2013

–Managed all aspects of communications for the College of Environmental Design, including print and digital media production, social media production, public relations, and media relations. The College of Environmental Design includes the departments of Architecture, Art, Landscape Architecture, and Urban and Regional Planning.

–Proposed and managed the first print publication for the College of Environmental Design: Link magazine. Responsible for every phase of development: creating design and editorial elements; assigning editorial schedule; hiring art director, copy editor, and mail managers; writing all copy; acquiring images; and cultivating the distribution list (delivered to a network of 9,000 alumni, practitioners, and academics).

–More than doubled the number of fans for the ENV group page on Facebook and launched the college’s first presence on Twitter and Instagram.

–Promoted and assisted in planning all college and department events, most notably the “Technology and Environment: The Postwar House in Southern California” exhibition (a Pacific Standard Time Presents exhibition), the Re:Street event on April 5-6, 2013, and Poly-Kroma.

–Produced copy for university publications, including Panorama (distributed to 115,000 alumni and university contacts) and PolyTrends (delivered to 15,000 alumni and friends of the university).

–Produced multiple monthly and seasonal insider journals covering land use, infrastructure, and the green economy in Southern California.

–Editorial duties included researching, writing, and copy editing all content. Developed content by researching and conducting interviews with leading professionals and policy makers.
